The Global Internet Policy Initiative, a partnership of Internews and the Center for Democracy and Technology, works for the growth of an open and democratic Internet in developing countries. Relying in part on GIPI's analysis, last year India loosened restrictions on Internet telephony.

A unique program called "Mosaic," which features daily TV news programs from national broadcasters throughout the Middle East, generated especially keen interest during the Iraq crisis.
